You
With at least three years' experience in purchasing, you are familiar with manufacturing or construction and able to read technical drawings as well as manage a small team. You are IT literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and already hold a Level 4 CIPS or are studying for your MCIPS.
Your Assignment
Leading a team of six, you'll be responsible for all direct and indirect procurement across the company, formulating, implementing and monitoring procurement strategy to achieve a robust supply chain both for materials, services and subcontract trades. This will require you to:
- Champion the strategic objective of ‘Integrated Supply Chain’ by convening working groups to develop, implement and monitor action plans.
- Establish and implement the Company’s procurement strategy.
- Assume line management of the Procurement Team; responsible for the monitoring, appraisal and management of employee behaviour in line with corporate policy and personnel issues such as attendance and grievance etc.
- Lead by example; actively promote and maintain the Corporate Mission, Vision and Values.
- Negotiate and contract manage framework agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop, implement and manage the supplier and sub contractor pre qualification system.
- Establish, monitor and maintain competence assessments of all supply chain partners.
- Maintain a database of standard prices for use across the Company.
- Monitor industry trends & forecasts and feedback into future tenders and quotations, to minimize risks of price increases.
- Maintain adequate stock levels which are recorded accurately and meet the needs of the Company.
- Develop and maintain a purchasing system which supports the process making it increasingly effective and efficient.
- Ensure there is a secure and robust system in place for checking of goods received against orders, that this is linked to invoice payment and issuing of stock.
- Provide regular management reports, as required, on stock movement, stock value, as well as allocated and projected costs.
- Work with colleagues, sourcing goods and materials which meet the standards required whilst maximizing commercial benefits and ensuring goods and materials are accurately costed against contracts.

- Develop and implement procurement development plans for 2008.
