Young people require 'better communication skills'

Many young people are entering the jobs market with basic communication skills, an expert has stated.
In order to succeed in the employment market, younger workers may need to possess better communication skills, Tom Hadley of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has said.
Mr Hadley the director of external relations at the REC, remarked that universities should equip students with the ability to communicate effectively.
He noted that in the US education system, presentations and group speaking is more central to the development of youngsters.
"There's a need to look at the needs for specific skills in what is a changing labour market and that needs to be cultivated a little more at university," he commented.
He added that there is almost no training for such skills despite its importance in "a lot of careers".
The government has announced it is to extend its skills training courses to seven million next year.
