There is an increasing amount of bullying still occurring in many British workplaces which has been described as "terrifying" in today's working environments.
According to the Andrea Adams Trust, it has been suggested that there has been a 25 per cent increase in cases of bullying since 2006. The trust is of the opinion that this has risen by 42 per cent.
Lyn Witheridge, chief executive of The Andrea Adams Trust, said these figures are "hugely shocking".
She also added: "Now here we are, in an early recession, when the era of recession management is more than a charter for bullies in organisations to use and abuse their staff."
Ms Witheridge likened the situation to the 1980s and the emergence of what was known as 'macho management'.
The National Workplace Bullying Survey found that just over half of victims of bullying claim they have been targeted for over a year.
