Working culture 'preferable to salary' for IT job seekers
02-02-2009
When looking for work, IT professionals are more likely to be attracted by an employer's working culture than they are by the level of remuneration, a new survey has found.
Almost two-thirds (60 per cent) of IT employees surveyed said that they would not leave a job in which they enjoyed their work for another with a higher salary, according to the IT Job Board.
Indeed, three-quarters (76 per cent) of respondents in the poll said that working culture was either important or very important when considering positions elsewhere.
Commenting on the findings, the company's managing director Alex Farrell said: "At a time when productivity is key, IT department heads should review their working environment and gauge how conducive it is to increasing output."
The research follows a survey by W-Tech 2009 which found that female IT employees are often able to command higher salaries as they have stronger negotiating skills.
