Workers in various regions offer 'different skills'

Potential employees in certain areas of the UK may possess a different skills set then workers in other regions, it has been suggested.
According to Hina Joshi from Business Link, while some businesses are moving out of London the areas they are moving to differ, due to the particular skills offered by people in certain regions.
Explaining the regional skills variation across the UK, Ms Joshi said: "Digital media tends to be a big skills set in the north-east. There's also a lot of service-based businesses and call centre-based businesses which again is another type of skill set in terms of customer service."
Moving to a region that matches a business' skills needs could aid the success of the firm, Ms Joshi added.
A record number of new businesses opened up last year, figures from Barclays revealed.
In 2007, there was a three per cent increase in the number of companies opening their doors, with 471,500 new businesses established, the bank stated.
