The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is to offer its employees a chance to gain management qualifications, it has been reported.
A deal has been signed with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) following the success of a pilot scheme offered by the MoD.
Director of marketing and corporate affairs for the CMI Jo Causon comments that employees want to learn transferable skills.
"Individuals want skills that will benefit them throughout their career, whether they get promoted within the armed services or decide to take on another profession," she remarks.
Recent research backs up Ms Causon's comments, as it was found 95 per cent of employees feel management qualifications will help improve their chances of promotion as well as in their future career path.
Ms Causon adds that other UK companies should make sure they are providing their employees with the right skills.
Yesterday, the armed forces were told that they would receive more funding from the government to help improve the quality of housing.
