Taking part in a work placement could lead to more employment opportunities for science graduates, it has been claimed.
Brian Heap, author of Good Degree Courses, told the Telegraph that many graduates who are studying science and business may have a "sandwich structure" to their courses, which allows them to take a year out from academics for work experience.
He said that those who participate in sandwich courses enjoy an 80 to 90 per cent employment rate.
"A lot of help is given to students on business studies and sciences degrees, such as how to write a good CV and how to give a good interview, and this accounts for their rates among these students," Mr Heap added.
His comments follow those of Yngve Traberg of ClickAJob, who earlier this month advised students that work experience is invaluable for landing a position after graduation.
