Training needs to be supplied to employees to ensure they know how to use email and office communication systems correctly, it has been suggested.
According to Web User magazine, bosses can improve efficiency if their workers are trained to use email systems correctly and effectively.
Furthermore, time-management training may also be essential to make sure staff are aware of how they can be doing their jobs to the best of their ability and doing the most they can in the time provided.
Ben Camm-Jones, news editor of Web User, said: "There should be a proactive discussion between bosses and employees about the effects that email can have on productivity, though it needs to be understood that email can be an incredibly useful tool as well."
New research from Expert messaging has revealed that 77 per cent of people check their email within five minutes of turning their computer on.
