Jobseekers may be pleased to learn that Papa John's is set to create up to 3,000 new positions.
The pizza delivery firm aims to open 300 new outlets by 2013 following an "exceptional" start to 2009.
It opened 10 new stores in the first quarter of the year and hopes to establish 30 to 40 more in the next 12 months, which will create 1,200 jobs.
Ian Saunders, UK managing director of Papa John's, said "it appears that our tremendous pizza quality and very strong value position is helping us to take advantage of a change in eating habits during these challenging times".
For every new branch opened, around 20 to 30 full and part time jobs are created.
Another fast food chain helping the unemployed at the moment is McDonalds, which has recently announced the expansion of its Local Government Partnership scheme for apprentices.
