Ulysses IT: Recruitment firms are being hit by spam sorting
02-09-2008
Spam emails are costing the recruitment industry a lot of money in terms of wasted time, according to an expert.
A spokesperson for computer support firm Ulysses IT has pointed out that businesses need to think about saving money in the current climate and should consider more efficient ways of dealing with spam emails, onrec.com reported.
Peter Turner, technical director for the company said that there is no way to stop spam, but it can be dealt with "more effectively".
He added "Business is tight for many recruitment agencies at the moment and they need to get the most out of their people. Having them waste time dealing with spam is just money down the drain."
A survey undertaken by internet security firm PandaLabs recently found that firms lose £392 a year per head due to the time employees waste sifting through spam.
Hewitt Associates' latest research showed that businesses are losing around £1,000 per employee annually due to sick leave.
