According to a campaign group, the UK needs to cap its yearly intake of non-EU migrant workers.
A new report and accompanying poll from campaign group Migrationwatch have suggested that the UK should consider a 20,000-person cap on its intake of overseas workers.
However, though the poll showed many respondents believed migration should not be exceeded by immigration, the balanced migration policy was not as accepted amongst groups of differing political orientation.
Chairman of Migrationwatch Andrew Green commented: "Balanced migration is the only which accommodates both the needs of business and the growing concern of voters about the impact of immigration on our community cohesion, public services and infrastructure."
The report was also advocated by two senior political figures from both the Labour and Conservative parties.
Over three million non-EU workers have been granted National Insurance numbers over the last six years, the Guardian reported.
