Training is more important than money, say IT workers

Money is less important than training in the IT sector, professionals in the industry have said in a new survey.
According to ComputerJobs.ie - in a study that asked employees how their company could improve - a pay rise was requested by 33 per cent of workers polled, while 48 per cent demanded increased training opportunities.
Furthermore, employees in the IT sector were unconcerned with job security despite increased outsourcing by companies and economy worries, Online Recruitment reports.
Director of ComputerJobs.ie Niall Kelly said that the study of 6,000 IT workers is applicable to blue chip companies and small to medium-sized enterprises alike.
"The message is clear that continued professional development must be a high priority in 2008," Mr Kelly commented.
An increase in wages was also less important than seeking new and exciting challenges, a study of IT job hunters by Conchango recently revealed.
