Market research company Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) has acquired Stockholm-based Prospera Research.
TNS has issued 560,022 ordinary shares of five pence to pay for the acquisition, which will be traded on the London Stock Exchange alongside existing shares in the company.
Established in 1985, Prospera is the leading provider of syndicated services for the finance sector in Sweden.
TNS said the deal will allow it to build further syndicated services in the finance sector and to extend these across the Nordic region and other markets in Europe.
David Lowden, chief executive of TNS, said: "This acquisition makes TNS the market leader in research for commercial banks and insurance companies.
"It is also in line with the group's strategy to increase its proportion of syndicated services."
Following the acquisition, Agneta Elvesdtedt, continues as managing director of TNS Prospera.
Propsera's gross assets at December 31st 2007 were £0.48 million.
