Some 150,000 British workers are not receiving the minimum wage from their employers, research by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has found.
The organisation has called upon employees who are not being paid the national rate of £5.52 per hour for adults or £4.60 for 18 to 21-year-olds to report their bosses' bad behaviour.
A helpline has been set up so that staff can easily report unscrupulous employers, who would then be fined by the government.
TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber commented: "There should be no hiding place for bosses who are deliberately cheating their workers out of the minimum wage."
He added that the holiday season is the perfect time to report so-called Scrooge employers, as the season adds further financial pressures to underpaid workers across the country.
The TUC is also campaigning to bring UK workers more bank holidays, to come further in line with the European average.
