T-Mobile: making friends at work can be "satisfying and energising"
20-10-2008
Employees are being encouraged to take the time to get to know their fellow staff as this can be a good way to make work a "satisfying and energising experience", it has been claimed.
According to T-Mobile, management should make sure that when they are recruiting they try to get a variety of different personalities and people into their teams.
This could encourage staff to talk to people they may initially feel they have nothing in common with, thus making work more enjoyable.
Julia Porter-Robinson, HR senior recruitment manager at T-Mobile, said: "Liking colleagues goes a long way to making the working day a satisfying and energising experience; however this doesnt mean that you cant like someone different to you."
According to a poll conducted by YouGov for the Trade Union Congress, 90 per cent of those asked said that working with a good group of people was something they appreciated and valued.
