Employers are being urged to invest in public liability insurance which covers the costs of personal injury claims, on the grounds that these claims can prove damaging to a business's reputation as well as finances.
Experts at One Business Solutions argue that this insurance is "vitally important" if firms are to avoid the adverse effects of personal injury claims.
They highlight the fact that public liability insurance is designed to meet the costs of legal and medical fees in the instance of personal injury claims.
"If they're uninsured small businesses could have to foot bills worth hundreds of thousands of pounds," commented Steve Eyles, sales manager at One Business Solutions.
"I'd recommend all businesses should have an element of public liability insurance to protect themselves."
Meanwhile the Association of Convenience Stores also states that public liability insurance is "advisable" for smaller shops in order to be able to cope with any personal injury claims that may arise.
