Staff want 'management motivation'
Managers are not motivating their staff to go the extra mile in their work, a new poll has discovered.

Conducted by Towers Perrin, the survey found that two-thirds of workers from the 5,000 UK companies questioned felt managers do not value their staff.

Reward practice leader at Towers Perrin Jim Crawley remarked that companies should utilise the skills of their workforce.

"If companies act quickly to address the issues this report identifies, they can reap the benefits that a high performing and fully engaged workforce can bring," he commented.

He added that by engaging the workforce managers may be able to gain from increases in operating income by as much as 19 per cent.

The survey finds that seven out of ten employees who are not fully engaged in their work are thinking of leaving their current employer.

In recent news, researchers from the University of East Anglia discovered that swearing in the workplace may help to relieve staff stress.
