Most workers do not discuss their salaries with their colleagues, a new survey has discovered.
Conducted by the Institute of Payroll Professionals, the study revealed that less than one in ten staff discuss their pay cheque with fellow workers, Online Recruitment magazine reports.
However, 90 per cent will discuss their pay with their friends, family and partners.
Chief executive of the Institute of Payroll Professionals Maurice Cheng told the publication that the news should be a boost for employers.
"Britain's bosses should be pleased with these findings as there is less opportunity for employees to feel dissatisfied or undervalued in comparison to their peers," she remarked.
Bosses should ensure they are keeping their employees happy, Mr Cheung added.
"However, it is still important that employers keep in touch with their staff and regularly assess how happy they are with their current pay," he said.
The Institute of Payroll Professionals is an industry body established in 1980 to improve professional conduct, technical skills and practical experiences of payroll professionals.
