Managers should be offering the same bonus packages to workers as chief executive officers (CEOs), one expert has said.
Such a system, where employees are rewarded for the profits and savings they make, would improve employee motivation, consultant for Accel-Team Cliff Grimes remarked.
When asked about employee productivity, Mr Grimes said that management style was highly important.
"Its a leadership style, and treating people with respect and dignity," he commented.
He added that businesses should personalise themselves and make an effort to create a good working environment, a place where employees "live to work and work to live".
Furthermore, employees should be focused on the products the business sells and the cost base of the company, Mr Grimes suggested.
According to a poll conducted by Corven in 2005, only 36 per cent of senior executives at 50 FTSE 100 firms and public sector organisations thought their employees cared about the success of the company.
