There is a skills shortage in the consultancy and engineering sector, a new report claims.
Conducted by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), the study finds there are 20,000 vacancies in the aforementioned sectors, onrec.com notes.
What's more, a further 2,400 jobs are expected to become available in the coming months, with ACE predicting the situation will continue to exacerbate leading up to 2012.
ACE chief executive Nelson Ogunshakin said on the subject: "ACE will be taking steps to address the issues raised."
He continued to say that this will include "plans for the introduction of a Recruitment Agency Charter, the development of a recruitment portal and the implementation of a new ACE Business Academy in 2008".
The survey also finds that job candidates are unhappy with the quality of recruitment agency services, with 80 per cent of respondents describing the help extended by these companies as "average to poor quality".
It was reported last week that according to the Association of Professional Recruitment Consultants, prospective job candidates must have computer skills.
