The government has approved plans to create a National Skills Academy for Hospitality after a bid was presented by People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism.
Over the next five years, 65,000 students will graduate from the college, the government has announced.
It will provide £100 million of funding for the project, which will help boost the hospitality skills of the UK workforce.
Minister for skills David Lammy claimed that the hospitality industry is vital for the "success" of the country.
He added that it is a "vibrant and dynamic" sector.
"This new academy will not only help the industry stay competitive, but will enable thousands of people to gain the skills and confidence to build successful and rewarding careers," he said.
Major hospitality employers are currently working with the Foods Standards Agency to set new standards for menus.
