Jobseekers in Sunderland may be interested in the news that about 200 new jobs are set to be created at an EDF contact centre at Doxford International Business Park.
The boost will increase the number of workers employed at the centre to over 1,400 and comes after the firm won the title of Durham and Wearside Employer of the Year at the Portfolio Business Awards.
Staff at the contact centre help to provide customer and billing services for residential and business customers throughout the UK.
"The investment we are making in Sunderland demonstrates the value we place on the operation we have here and the ongoing commitment we have to support the economic growth of the region," commented Steve Hayfield, director of account and revenue management for EDF Energy.
Earlier this week, the Journal reported that 100 extra jobs are to be created at Nissan's plant in Sunderland to cater for rising demand for its Qashqai hatchback.
