Flights to and from Bristol international airport have resumed after its runway reopened this morning.
Safety concerns had prompted the temporary closure between 14:30 GMT yesterday and 10:00 GMT this morning, following complaints of aircraft skidding in wet conditions on the runway.
Contractors worked through the night to add additional grooves to the runway, improving its condition.
Bristol international airport yesterday said that the decision to close the runway had been made "in consultation with our airline partners", allowing engineers to "fast-track" work on the runway.
Ten airlines cancelled flights or diverted around 100 flights to Cardiff and Birmingham airports yesterday, bringing a third day of delays for passengers travelling through Bristol international airport.
Concerns were first raised on Friday by easyJet, which cancelled 68 flights after complaints that its aircraft were skidding in wet conditions.
The budget airline said it would operate 60 per cent of its Bristol operations in and out of Cardiff today.
This weekend's disruption follows hot on the heels of severe delays occurring in the run-up to Christmas, when heavy fog at London airports left thousands of passengers on domestic flights without a guaranteed route home for the holidays.
