Brits who resign from their jobs may be looking for a career in a completely different industry, a new study suggests.
Findings from i-resign.com's latest survey show that most workers (44.4 per cent) who quit their jobs will stay in the same industry when they look for their next position, onrec.com reports.
However, 28.2 per cent of prospective employees will look to change industries, which has been attributed to the growing number of new trades, companies and sectors that are emerging in the current employment climate.
Managing director of I-resign.com Kauser Kanji commented that the information has been highly interesting, noting his surprise of discovering one in eight New Zealanders hand in their notice to go travelling.
"The fact that around 30 per cent of people are moving to a different industry just goes to show how were branching out and learning new skills to cope with the pace of change at work," he remarked.
Research carried out by the UK Chartered Management Institute last week, found that the number of women who desire a job change is at its highest ever level.
