Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) cardholders will be hit with a charge if they do not tell the bank their address has changed.
Customers will face a £12 charge if the address is not changed before two statements are sent to the old address.
Card holders will be given 60 days to tell RBS of their new address or be hit with the charge.
RBS is also planning to treat card purchases of items such as gift vouchers and betting as cash advances.
These items, which RBS calls "cash equivalent products", will immediately incur high rates of interest.
The move is the latest in a desperate move by banks to recover losses which they suffered when the Office of Fair Trading slashed the amount they could charge for late credit card payments last year.
Several companies have hiked up their interest rates in recent months while others have introduced fees for services such as tracing a new address and for not using the card enough.
Earlier this month, it was revealed British holidaymakers would be charged £355 million this year because of the host of charges for using their credit cards overseas.
