Public sector employees are happiest in their place of work, new research has discovered.
According to Badenoch & Clark, 44 per cent of public sector workers are happy in their line of work.
The benefits offered by the organisation were the reason 78 per cent of those questioned joined the public sector.
While a further 45 per cent of employees wanted to find a challenging and rewarding role in the public sector.
However, nearly half of those questioned by the firm said they were considering changing jobs this year.
Nicola Linkleter, director for public sector recruitment, advised companies to ensure they are retaining staff effectively.
She stated: "Employers need to consider not just their recruitment strategies to attract talent with itchy feet.
"They also need to be imaginative in how they work to improve happiness at work, highlight the positive benefits of working within the public sector and retain valued employees."
Jobs.ac.uk recently stated that 2008 will be a year of active job searching.
