Public sector "increasingly attractive" for IT workers

IT jobseekers have been advised to consider a career in the public sector, by the chief executive of Parity Resources.
Alywn Welch suggested that the area is increasingly appealing to IT professionals, partly because pay in the sector is becoming more competitive.
In addition, jobs with public sector organisations tend to seen as more secure than in the private domain.
Commenting on reports that recruitment activity in IT is slowing, Mr Welch said: "We're not seeing anything like the doom and gloom predicted for the recruitment market, as demand for key IT skills remains high."
He added that there is currently a "real shortage of specialist key skills".
Carrie Hartnell, the programme manager of Intellect, also recently made this point when she told Computing.co.uk that something needs to be done to allieviate the growing skills shortage in the IT industry.
