Private medical insurance 'beneficial to firms and their staff'
29-04-2009
Companies are being advised that providing their employees with private medical insurance (PMI) could prove to be a beneficial move.
According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), many firms are now considering the introduction of PMI as it makes it easier for small businesses to control staff illness.
It also helps to prevent workers from worrying about medical problems and therefore not working to the best of their ability.
Peter Staddon, head of technical services at Biba, said: "It is a much better way of maintaining the health of your staff as well as your business and there are some brilliant schemes out there."
Figures from the Association of British Insurers have revealed that despite the recession, there has been a rise in the number of people covered by PMI.
