Postgraduate degree can "set you apart" in a recruitment process

A postgraduate degree could give candidates the edge in a competitive jobs market, the chairman of PFJ has suggested.
Paul Farrar noted that such a qualification can demonstrate a job applicant's academic strengths and make them stand out, adding that those studying a vocational subject such as applied science are likely to be most in demand.
"Where a postgraduate degree does have a currency is that with some of the misplaced cynicism from employers towards the current degree awards, a postgraduate degree does actually set you apart," he stated.
Mr Farrar added that employers will look favourably on the "deeper research and thought" that a postgraduate degree requires.
His comments come after the Association of Graduate Recruiters revealed that employers are predicting the highest increase in graduate vacancies for a decade this year.
