Recent physiotherapist graduates are struggling to find employment, it has been revealed.
According to figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats, half of those who graduated from university with physiotherapy qualifications are unemployed.
And many of those who are employed are in short-term contract roles or junior positions.
Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Sandra Gidley called the figures a "disgrace".
"The government is failing graduates across the health sector and is in danger of driving young people away from many professions. This is a huge waste of talent and public money," she said.
She added that physiotherapy graduates will be feeling "disillusioned" and "unappreciated".
It was recently suggested by the British Medical Association (BMA) that staff shortages have left junior doctors being pressured into working unpaid overtime.
There is at least one vacancy in 29 per cent of staff rotas, the BMA revealed.
