Possessing interpersonal skills is essential for jobseekers looking to gain positions in IT management, a new survey has discovered.
Knowledge of technicalities and intellectual weight, while being a requirement for any IT manager, was not deemed enough for somebody to make it in a managerial role by 94 per cent of directors polled by recruitment firm Hays.
Contractor UK reported that the capability to communicate IT issues to those barely acquainted with the subject was also highly valued by the directors.
"You need a proven track record and be up to date with the direction of technology, but you need to think strategically, give clear direction and engage with people," commented James Lloyd Townshend, managing director of Hays.
