Peacocks is planning to create 500 new jobs with the opening of 30 new stores across the UK, as part of its plans for a £21.5 million expansion.
At present, the Cardiff-based retailer has 5,000 employees working in its 430 pre-existing stores across the country. Ten of the Peacocks stores have opened since July 2006.
Tim Bettley, Peacocks managing director, told personneltoday: "Our customers know that at Peacocks they can get the hottest fashion must-haves at the best prices on the high street.
"These investment plans will further endorse the fact that Peacocks is in vogue on every fashionable high street in Britain."
The growth programme includes plans to open stores in Cardiff, Manchester and Southampton. The group - which owns the bonmarche brand - has also got franchises in Russia, the Middle East, Turkey and Ukraine.
The discount fashion chain, which opened its first store in Warrington in 1884, also plans to refurbish 25 of its city stores.
