Personal Assistants (PAs) saw some of the biggest increases in their salaries over 2006, according to new figures.
Also celebrating some of the largest increases in pay packets were sales managers and senior accounts clerks, Adecco's annual Salary Survey revealed.
It was a good year for the salaries of many professions, with 88 per cent of the positions surveyed by the firm experiencing an incremental salary rise, with an average rise of two per cent.
The area that saw the biggest increase in salaries was the East Midlands, with an average increase of six per cent, followed by Greater London with five per cent and the north-east, also with five per cent.
Managing director of Adecco UK and Ireland Steven Kirkpatrick said: "The predicted GDP forecast for 2006 is 2.2 per cent so pay levels are increasing in line with the growth of the economy.
"For today's businesses finding and retaining the right people at every level is becoming ever more difficult and the increase in salaries reflects the need for companies to attract the right workers and pay them accordingly."
