Online recruitment sites 'give a feel for the jobs market'
08-01-2009
Using online recruitment websites is a good way for jobseekers to gauge what kind of jobs are currently available, it has been claimed.
According to iProfile.org, people should consider looking beyond the industry they are currently working in and focus on those which are predicting job growth.
Similarly, it is a good idea to target sectors where there are shortages in skilled resources.
Other advice offered by the website is to register for online training courses as they can "put you one step ahead of other candidates should you enter the job market".
Jobseekers may also like to practice a range of questions in preparation for any interviews and should be realistic about how long it could take them to find employment.
John Thieman, who was writing for the Chicago Tribune, told people that they should Google themselves so they know if there is anything written about them on the internet that they do not want employers to find.
