Online recruitment 'may eliminate fraud risk for jobseekers'
18-12-2008
Jobseekers using the internet to look for employment may wish to use the services offered by online recruitment agencies to help protect themselves against fraud.
Many criminals are now setting up fake websites advertising vacancies and using the information obtained from applications to commit identity fraud, Get Safe Online claims.
Some are also scamming jobseekers by offering them money and then asking them to post part of it back as part of a money laundering scam.
Tony Neat, managing director of Get Safe Online, urged people to check job adverts carefully.
"If it is quite unusual, then it could be a scam, so do a bit more checking, have a look around, have a look at what they're advertising for and what its all about."
Using an online recruitment agency can help eliminate this risk as candidates can be sure their CVs are being passed on to reputable, genuine companies.
