An online business network with one million members throughout Europe has been launched in the UK.
Viadeo allows business people to enter information regarding experience and skills and then invite people into their network. This allows them to access one another's contacts, creating a large network of employees, jobs, clients and supplies.
It has been likened to social networking sites like Myspace and is getting 3,000 new members every day.
Viadeo UK manager, Peter Cunningham, commented: "Online social networks are no longer just for kids. Teenagers have been meeting old and new friends and participating in online communities for years using social networking websites like Facebook and MySpace and businesses would be missing a trick if they didn't [do the same].
"More than just an online address book, Viadeo allows business people to build their business networks online and meet and exchange information and views with members sharing common interests, backgrounds or pastimes.
"With Viadeo, online networking often leads to offline meetings and for us networking is more than just a website. However, online communities make it easier to meet valuable new people, wherever they are in the world."
