Olympic qualities 'are needed to climb career ladder'

Workers hoping to further their careers and eventually end up as executives will need the same qualities as Olympic athletes to succeed, a consultancy has claimed.
Olympic athletes have a lot in common with ambitious employees in that they need to demonstrate a winning drive and the ability to work well in teams, said consultant firm Bayfield Executive Search and Selection.
Stuart Blake, managing director of the company, said: "It takes years of dedication, perseverance and ambition to become a senior executive or director so in that sense they are very much like athletes that make the Olympics."
He added that Olympians, much like determined workers, make "huge sacrifices" in order to ensure that they are the best, Recruiter reported.
Over half of this year's British Olympic squad are university graduates, a higher figure than ever before, according to research conducted by the British Universities and College Sport.
