O2 was awarded the accolade of Industry Recruiter of the Year at the Scottish Recruitment Awards 2007 last week.
The reward follows a successful drive by the company to recruit up to 1,500 employees for its Glasgow centre, which has helped expand the business throughout Scotland over the last year.
A new recruitment process designed to attract, develop and retain talented individuals was praised as O2 beat off competition from Dell and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
With 950 employees currently at the Skypark office in Glasgow, O2 consumer office head Kirk Croal said that the firm had "really worked hard to get the best quality people" and had "continually updated the way that [it recruits] new staff".
Ranging from customer service advisors to e-care and broadband advisors, he noted the company's "fantastic achievement in less than the one year".
Chosen by the public, Telefonica O2 Czech Republic was awarded the Most Desired Employer 2007 award in Prague last month by AXA.
