Employment figures in commercial creative sector in the north-east of England are set to see rapid growth over coming years, a new report has highlighted.
According to regional development agency One NorthEast, businesses in the region are expecting rapid expansion and thus a high number of vacancies are likely to be created.
Over the next five years, 81 per cent of companies in the region are predicting an increase in turnover.
Furthermore, 53 per cent of businesses are planning to recruit more workers, which has led One NorthEast to forecast that 9,000 jobs will soon be available.
The commercial creative industry includes publishing, television, film, games and new media.
Director of business and industry at One NorthEast Ian Williams noted that several factors have led to the growth.
"The sector has key strengths in both content and technology development as well as in exhibition, education and culture, and the region is well placed to develop these further," he commented.
One NorthEast was founded in 1999 and is given the task to help provide the north-east with a better future.
