Almost half of small business owners have confessed that they will not get to take a holiday this year as pressures at work mount.
A poll carried out by telecom company Unicom found that 42 per cent of respondents did not consider a break viable this year.
Of the 433 small business owners asked, 39 per cent said a rest would be possible, but only if it worked around other family events and holidays.
Unicom's operations director Chris Earle said that small businesses entrepreneurs are labouring to minimise the effects of the credit crunch and many feel they simply cannot afford to take a break.
He continued: "What is notable is that we're not seeing any fall off in the levels of phone calls made by small businesses [ ] they're working much harder just to stand still."
The Confederation of British Industry recently warned that the credit crunch is much worse than previously expected as inflation figures for last month were higher than anticipated.
