The GMB has applauded changes that have been made to NHS pension schemes.
According to the union, the new agreement and amendments to the old scheme for existing staff will bring in excellent pension benefits.
GMB national officer for public services Sharon Holder comments that the deal is good news for new and existing staff.
"The changes to the scheme ensure that the scheme is sustainable in the long term and is an excellent package of benefits for both existing and new staff," she remarks.
To brought in on April 1st next year, the agreement maintains a "final salary provision in the NHS", Ms Holder adds.
Also, recruitment and retention rates to the sector will be boosted by the improvements, the GMB states.
In related news, a new survey by the Picker Institute and the Health Foundation found NHS patients feel they are not being consulted over decisions about their care.
