MOD and Passport Service staff to strike over 'scandalous pay'

A pay dispute will see thousands of Ministry of Defence and Identity and Passport Service employees go on strike this month.
The strike is part of the Public and Commercial Services Union's (PCS) dispute over work, pay and conditions on March 30th.
Mark Serwotka, PCS general secretary, said: "Civil servants are among the lowest paid in the public sector, with thousands earning just above the minimum wage and a quarter earning less than £15,400.
"It is scandalous that while the rest of the economy enjoys pay rises in line with inflation that the government and civil service management seek to impose a real terms pay cut for the people who keep this country running."
Fellow PCS members from four government departments and agencies will not strike but will join the MOD and passport staff in a day of action on the same date.
This will involve PCS members making sure they take their allocated breaks and refusing to do overtime, whether it is paid or unpaid.
