New plans have been unveiled which will see jobseekers receive extra money to pay for things such as new suits and childcare.
Scottish secretary Jim Murphy announced the £10 million nationwide funding package while on a visit to a job centre in Motherwell.
From April all jobseekers will be able to apply for money from the Adviser Discretion Fund which can pay for things such as childcare, transport, smart work clothes or safety boots.
Mr Murphy said: "Here in Motherwell I have met people who are determined to get back to work but need that little bit extra help to find the right job for them.
"These are the small things that can make a big difference," he added.
In other jobseeker news, the Recruitment Society has recently claimed that many more people could be tempted to lie on their CV due to the competitive nature of the current jobs market.
