Recruiting mums could bring benefits to a business as they contribute negotiation skills, good time management and patience to the workplace, it has been claimed.
They also have good morale, perform well and are often open to temporary work opportunities, an expert from recruitment company HR GO said.
"Businesses could be losing out on sourcing the best talent by not even considering women of child-bearing age," said Jack Parkinson, chairman of the firm.
"By tapping into this pool of talent, employers can become smarter."
He also added that despite the flexibility needed to recruit those with family commitments, the extra planning pays dividends in the long run, onrec.com reports.
In related news, a recent poll by Jobcentre Plus revealed that seven out of ten parents believe working sets a good example for their children and provides them with a positive role model.
