The web has become the most popular medium for job searches, new figures have revealed.
According to an international survey of 115,000 people by Kelly Services, it was found that the internet is seen as the best place to find a new job by many jobseekers.
A recent survey by Enhance Media also discovered that the popularity of online job searching is growing.
Its National Online Recruitment Audience Survey revealed that use of the medium for employment searches has grown by 50 per cent since 2006, as jobseekers use around four sites to hunt for a new position.
James Bowmer, the Kelly Services country manager, stated that individuals and firms have "embraced the internet".
"People are now very confident about applying for jobs online while employers are becoming much more skilled at dealing with the online recruitment phenomenon," he remarked.
Mr Bowmer added that correct assessment of potential candidates is still called for despite the popularity of online applications.
