More jobseekers 'using online recruitment during recession'

Jobseekers have been encouraged to make use of online recruitment websites to improve their chances of success when it comes to finding employment during the recession.
David Hurst, managing director of Onrec.com, believes that the agencies are continuing to expand their databases and more and more people are now posting CVs online.
He said that "the trick will be searching the internet for the best place to find a job which might mean putting your CV on general sites where people might find you".
Mr Hurst continued by saying that "although many people know about online recruitment there will be many people who are perhaps looking for a job for the first time in quite a while".
According to Careerbuilder.co.uk, candidates should scan vacancies that have been listed with agencies for a while, not just the newest positions that have become available.
A spokesperson for ClickAJob suggests that online might be a lifeline for professionals who suddenly find themselves on the street.
"That inevitable feeling of rejection can make people pretty desperate," he says.
"But it's not the end of the world - a good job search engine indexes vacancies from hundreds of job boards into one convenient place - and just the sheer variety of jobs online offers hope."
"Seeing them for the first time, particularly after years in a safe and steady job, is also a revelation about how transferable skills can be," he adds.
"It's surprising how many can rescue themselves by recognising a possible change of career direction."
