April Fools' Day jokes have been recommended as a way to help boost morale in the office.
The traditional foolhardy pranks can have a number of beneficial effects, Sarah Drew, general manager of TheLadders, told Online Recruitment magazine.
Team dynamics and creativity can also be improved by antics on April 1st, she said.
Ms Drew stated: "When teams come together to create a prank, it encourages creativity, teamwork and gives the office a shared experience outside of the workload."
Fun and games should be "intrinsic" to the office environment, she noted, as they can be good way to get rid of stress.
Pretending to be client and making fake calls to a colleague is one popular prank, as well as unplugging somebody's computer keyboard, Ms Drew concluded.
Firms in Scotland may use the more traditional term for April Fools' Day of hunting the gowk.
