As Valentine's Day approaches a new survey has revealed the truth about managers' attitudes towards employee relationships.
The study, conducted by TheLadders.co.uk, discovered that 68 per cent of bosses have had a secret crush on an employee at some point in their career.
However, most resist the urge to make a move on the object of their affections as only 17 per cent admitted to having a relationship with a co-worker, Onrec.com reports.
Derek Pilcher, managing director of TheLadders.co.uk, said: "It's hardly surprising that crushes blossom in the office, seeing as we spend so much time at work.
"But dating the boss can cause all sorts of problems. It's a career minefield for both parties," he added.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Times reports that some employers in the US have started asking their workers to sign a confirmation that they have entered into a voluntary relationship.
