Manchester City has confirmed it is in discussions over a potential bid for the club.
In a statement to the London Stock Exchange the club confirmed it had had initial contact with undisclosed bidders, reigniting talk of an imminent takeover.
The statement acknowledged "recent press speculation" regarding a buy-out and said the board was continuing to target would-be investors.
"Further to the company's announcement on December 7th, 2006, the board of Manchester City confirms that it remains in preliminary discussions with third parties that may or may not lead to an offer being made for the company," the club said.
In December City revealed it had begun talks with unnamed individuals, telling the club's annual general meeting the moves could "lead to potential investment".
The club has been estimated at around £70 million, with Stuart Pearce's side in need of investment.
A disappointing league campaign has seen the side slide to 16th in the Premiership, although they are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
