Ceridian: HR faces no threat from government's free legal advice

Human resources (HR) professionals have commented that a new online resource to be launched by the government to assist small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners will not affect their services.
As part of the Employing People campaign, the government announced recently that an online calculator would soon be made available to help SMEs avoid expensive legal fees.
Ceridian's director for SMEs Nick Thompson said the HR industry is not likely to suffer due to the free resource.
He said that identifying a problem within a business does not mean that owners can necessarily resolve it independently.
"Any tools are good for employers if they help cut through the red tape, but ultimately our view is that the toolkit won't affect us," Mr Thompson continued.
The government hopes that the campaign will save UK SME owners a total of £365 million within the next two years.
